15 minutes with the TCPs to learn more about their mental health concerns and how they can work with TCPs.
*Investment - Complimentary

This is a 2-hour process. One hour is with the college student to learn about their physical and mental health history. The other hour is with parents learning about the early life of their college student. This session will take place only with the permission of the college student who is over the age of 18. Confidential information about the student will not be shared with the parents without explicit permission. During this process, TCPs will collaborate with your existing therapist (if applicable), and gather information from former psychiatrists and/or therapists. Upon completion of these two hours the college student will receive a preliminary diagnosis and work with TCPs to co-create a treatment plan. This treatment plan may include recommendations for lifestyle changes, psychotherapy, and/or medication support.
*Investment - $1,200 with parent involvement. $600 without parent involvement.

Based on the outcome of the initial evaluation and co-created treatment plan, the student can begin a recommended medication. TCPs are regularly evaluating the effect of medication for signs of improvement, worsening, and side effects. To monitor the effect, TCPs will meet with the student once per month and more frequently, if necessary. Once the student is stable on the medication, meetings will decrease in frequency to once every 3-12 months. TCPs can only prescribe controlled substances (stimulants for ADHD) for students living in the DFW.
*Investment - $600 for 50-minute appointments. $350 for 25-minute appointments.

TCPs tailors psychotherapy to the student. TCPs offers both psychodynamic and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). Psychodynamic therapy is also known as "talk" therapy and helps the student understand how their past may be impacting their present. Talk therapy is also helpful in understanding how social interactions, culture, and politics impact mental health. CBT is helpful in providing students with skills to heal from depression, anxiety, OCD, and low self-esteem. For the greatest benefit, we recommend students engage with weekly psychotherapy for at least 3 months but most students find the greatest benefit working with TCPs for 6-12 months.
*Investment - $600 for 50-minute psychotherapy.
-
With the student’s permission, TCPs will provide quarterly updates about the student’s progress. This also provides an opportunity for parents to share their observations about their young adult.
*Investment - $600 for 50-minute appointments. $350 for 25-minute appointments.
Parents, this is for you
The College Psychiatrists focuses on directly caring for college students. While doing this work, they’ve discovered parents can also use support. TCPs offers specialized events including the Parent Salon series to provide direction in supporting your student. This series includes conversations with an expert where you will get practical tips, have the opportunity to ask questions, and engage with other parents. You can attend all four session for $75 or individual sessions for $25.

Understanding the financial commitment to therapy is important. As an out-of-network provider, The College Therapists does not accept insurance as a form of payment. Likewise, they will not disclose patient information to any insurance provider. This frees the patient from sharing their mental health diagnoses on their medical record. If you wish to pursue reimbursement through your insurance plan, you will need to contact your insurance provider to learn details.
